India Inc pledges aid to Bihar

The state can be a global hub for engineering export items of interest to the SMEs, says EEPC chairman

Mumbai: Buoyed by the victory of Nitish Kumar in the Bihar elections, India Inc has promised him all support. Congratulating the Grand Alliance, CII president Sumit Mazumder said that CII looks forward to working closely with the new government in areas such as agri and food processing, infrastructure, manufacturing & MSMEs, ICT and e-Governance, etc.

While Rear Admiral A.K. Verma (Retd), chairman of CII Eastern Region said, “The Bihar government has already signed a tripartite agreement with LKY School of Public Policy, Singapore, and CII to create a roadmap for ease of doing business in the state. Now our goal is to help spur industrial growth and spawn social well-being.”

Congratulating Nitish Kumar and his coalition parties, the EEPC India chairman T. S. Bhasin on Sunday said, “The state can be a global hub for engineering export items of interest to the SMEs, as Bihar is endowed with right kind of resources for becoming the manufacturing hub for the global markets, particularly those in the neighborhood like Nepal and Mynamar.

“The state is the largest source of manpower in the country, with other social infrastructure like educational institutions. It now needs some big moves so that the state becomes a pivot of development in eastern India,” said business chamber Assocham secretary general D.S. Rawat. He said that would  work with the government for ensuring that Bihar receives the kind of investment and attention of big time projects and industrial projects that the state deserves.
