Bihar poll results spell revival for Congress
Maharashtra, is a major state where the Congress base has not been completely eroded
New Delhi: Does the Bihar election outcome spell the beginning of a Congress revival? Although the coming Punjab Assembly polls will be a further indicator, the real battle grounds will be Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat where Assembly elections will see straight fights between the two national parties.
Maharashtra, meanwhile, is a major state where the Congress base has not been completely eroded and a tactical alliance with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP could bring the coalition back to power.
Significantly, this process seems to have already begun, as seen in the Gondia and Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad results, which saw the BJP defeated in Vidarbha region.
The Bihar results have boosted the morale of the grand old party after successive defeats that began in 2013 in the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh polls.
A little later, in 2014, the Lok Sabha elections saw the Congress suffer a historic debacle.
