Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday suspended former Warangal MP Siricilla Rajaiah from the party, following the police registering a case against him, making him an accused in the suicide of his daughter-in-law.

The TPCC president had earlier said that the party was waiting to see how the police would register the case. Mr Reddy has sent a report to the All India Congress Committee  (AICC) detailing the political situation on account of the gruesome incident involving Mr Rajaiah and sought directions to proceed further.

He also reportedly conveyed to the All India Congress Committee  that unless Mr Rajaiah was suspended and the party distanced itself from the incident, other political parties may try to take advantage over this. After it was known that Mr Rajaiah was named as accused number 2 in the case, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday ordered his suspension from the party’s primary membership.
