Diwali being the festival of light brings in happiness, togetherness, strengthens the bonding and spreads love among all our folks.

We all love to enjoy sweets especially sharing it with our loved ones and the family gathering just lightens up the environment.

But in these festivals we often over look our health issues and binge on these sugary desserts.

There are many people facing health related problem like diabetes. Too much sugar does affect everyone who feasts on a lot of sweets during Diwali.

It does not only damage your liver but also affects your insulin and increases your weight.

Increase in the level of uric acid in our body also causes metabolism dysfunction.

Since you can’t avoid sweets you can always decrease the level of sugar in your bonbon.

Let’s take a look on these few simple and make some healthy sugar free recipes which will not only help you to maintain your health but will also let you enjoy the sweets delicacy on this Diwali.

 

Sugar Free Date Rolls

Since dates are naturally sweets, there is no need to add extra sugar to your sweet. The natural sweetness is better than the added sugar in your sweet. The nuts and the poppy seeds added in the sweets, makes it healthier as they are rich in protein and calcium.

Ingredients:

1 table spoon ghee

1 cup deseeded and finely chopped black date

1 table spoon chopped almonds

1 table spoon chopped pistachios

1 table spoon chopped walnuts and 2 table spoons poppy seeds (Khus-khus) for coating

Method:

Heat the ghee in a pan, later add chopped dates and cook them in the ghee on a low flame for 5-10 minutes.

Mix them well till they turn into a soft plump.

Switch off the regulator and add chopped nuts and mix them well with the dates.

Make rolls of the mixed dates and nuts.

Coat them with poppy seeds and let it set in the refrigerator for some time.

 

Chocolate Milk Peda

For all the sweet lovers, we bring you a delicious recipe of chocolate with a twist. This is a treat for all the diabetic and health conscious people.

Chocolate Milk Peda is like a treasure for all the weight watchers.

The sweet will make you delighted with whiff of cardamom, saffron and lots of chocolate.

Ingredients:

 4 cups low fat milk

 1 Tea spoon artificial sweetener

¼ tea spoon cardamom

¼ tea spoon citric acid

2 table spoons cocoa powder

2 tea spoons corn flour (Dissolve it in 3-4 teaspoons of water, grease your hand with few droplets of ghee and use chopped nuts for garnishing)

Method:

Boil the milk in a non-stick pan and keep stirring it for an hour till the milk reduces to half of its quantity.

Add citric acid, cocoa powder, sweetener and corn flour. Again stir the milk for every 2-3 minutes till the milk starts to thicken.

Once the milk is gets thicken to dough like state, remove it from the gas and let it cool for sometime.

Apply ghee to your hands and make small balls of it and garnish it with nuts.
