Election Commission to form technical panel to probe EVM malfunction
To determine this, the election commission would constitute a team comprising highly qualified technical experts
Thiruvananthapuram: The State Election Commission is planning to constitute a high-level technical team to probe into the mass malfunctioning of electronic voting machines in Malappuram and Thrissur during the second phase of local body elections on November 5.
According to EC sources, a decision on the police probe into the alleged sabotage angle would be taken after determining whether the malfunctioning of the 300-odd ballot panels of the EVMs was due to any technical issue or external intervention.
To determine this, the election commission would constitute a team comprising highly qualified technical experts. Though home minister Ramesh Chenn-ithala offered to form a special team, the commission said it would first wait for the technical evaluation.
