Manju Warrier wins people’s hearts
Actor helps construct house for dance prodigy M. P. Athira
Malappuram: Manju Warrier was felicitated here for constructing a house for dance prodigy M.P. Athira, a student of Tharakan Higher Secondary School, Angadippuram, in Malappuram on Monday.
During a function held at Perinthalmanna government higher secondary School, local politicians presented her with a memento.
Athira is one of the 12 dance prodigies Manju selected from this year’s Kerala School Youth Festival.

She provides a monthly stipend for all of them to meet their dance practice expenses. Manju decided to construct houses for four of them when she discovered that they didn't have one.
The house has two bedrooms and a hall for Athira to practice dance. “I feel privileged to help these kids who want to pursue dance,” the actor said.
“I was shocked to see that the four dancers who won accolades at the state art festival didn’t have a roof over their heads. My decision to help came instantly, and it is my duty towards these children who are passionate about dance as I am.”
Manju thanked renowned architect G. Shankar for designing and constructing houses for them. “I didn’t want to compromise on anything for these children and wanted to ensure that they get a green and friendly house that adds to their pursuit,” she said.
The house for Gishnu Gopi in Idukki is under construction. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has allotted three cents of land for S. Vidya in Pathanamthitta and construction activities will commence soon.
Thiruvananthapuram-based Manu is still waiting for the government to give him land under the zero-landless scheme.
The actor’s efforts have been appreciated by the people, and government has promised to extend its aid too.
