Metroman E Sreedharan visits his alma mater in Koyilandy

KOZHIKODE: The Metroman, E. Sreedharan had an emotional day on Tuesday. He came down to his alma mater, Koyilandy government boys’ higher secondary school in Koyilandy, and visited places and temples in and around Panthalayani where he had a treasure of memories.

Mr Sreedharan had studied in the school during 1942-44, in his 8, 9 and 10 classes. A native of Pattambi, Sreedharan came to Koyilandy along with his elder sister, whose husband was working in Koyilandy then. The most tragic memory attached to Koyilandy is his sister’s death that happened in those days.

Speaking at the felicitation function, organized by the school and Koyilandy municipality, Sreedharan said that Koyilandy needed technical planning to develop into a mini-metro city.

“I have pleasant as well as tragic memories connected to this place. I assure all my support in raising the school to an international level. I am requesting to be given a lifetime membership in the alumni organization of the school,” he said.

Earlier, Sreedharan visited Aghora shiva temple in Panthalayani, Pisharikavu temple in Kollam and the place at Panthalayani where he stayed during his school days.

At the function, Mr  Sreedharan released the book, “Indiaye Dhanyamaakiya Koyilandy” which details the profile of 17 great personalities associated with Koyilandy which includes K. Kelappan, C.K.Govindan, V.R. Krishna Iyer, E. Sreedharan etc. The book is authored by V.M Sreedharan. Writer U.A Khader accepted the first copy. K. Dasan MLA presided. School headmaster Vasu C.K, HSS section principal P. Valsala, VHSE  principal, U. Bijesh, Balraj M.G, P. Vishwan spoke.
