PK Kunhalikutty, VM Sudheeran hail KM Mani
Mr Thomas said while responding to the speculation that he would succeed Mr Mani in the ministry
Thiruvananthapuram: Industries minister and IUML leader P. K. Kunhalikutty has said that it was the prerogative of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to announce the new finance minister in the wake of K. M. Mani's resignation.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday night, Kunhalikutty said Mani was one of the topmost leaders of the UDF. "Everybody in the UDF has faith in Mr Mani. Nobody in the UDF believes he did anything wrong."
Biju Ramesh, who made the revelations which led to the bar bribe case and now the resignation of Mr Mani, said that he would go ahead with the fight. "I am happy with Mani's resignation."
Meanwhile, senior Kerala Congress (M) leader C. F. Thomas MLA said that he would not take up the finance ministry vacated by Mr Mani. "I don't want to take up the job of a minister,"
Mr Thomas said while responding to the speculation that he would succeed Mr Mani in the ministry.
KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran, while reacting to the resignation, said that it was the correct decision. The statement by Mr Mani that he would give unstinted support to the UDF government was a welcome move, Mr Sudheeran said.
