Debate poll vows, Congress tells Telangana CM
50 questions on 500-day TRS rule
Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress on Thursday challenged the K. Chandrashekar Rao government to an open debate on its performance during its 500-day rule.
TPCC president Mr N. Uttam Kumar Reddy released a booklet “50 Questions on 500 Days of TRS Misrule” compiled by Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Mr Shabbir Ali, at Gandhi Bhavan.
Speaking to newsmen, Mr Reddy accused the TRS government of making false claims on its performance without actually implementing anything.
Beginning with a U-turn on his promise of making a Dalit the Chief Minister, the PCC alleged that Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had first cheated the families of Telangana martyrs by confining their numbers to 481. Similarly, the cases related to Telangana agitation were not withdrawn and hundreds of students were still facing the trail.
He said that while the CM sacked the Dalit Deputy Chief Minister, Dr T. Rajaiah, on charges of corruption, he himself did not follow suit despite being questioned by the CBI in the ESI Hospitals’ scam.
Mr Reddy said that the TRS government had also failed to fulfill major promises including 12 per cent reservation for Muslims and STs, 2 BHK houses, KG to PG free education and the crop loan waiver scheme.
He said that the booklet compiled by Mr Shabbir Ali would be circulated among voters in Warangal and answers would be sought from TRS leaders.
Harish asks if Uttam will quit over bypoll
In a strong rebuttal to the Congress’ criticism on the TRS’ 500-day rule, irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday said Telangana was lagging behind in several development para-meters due to the 48 year of misrule of the Congress.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr Rao asked TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy why he had failed to condemn the statement of former Congress CM Kiran Kumar Reddy in Assembly that he would not give a single rupee to TS. Mr Rao, however agreed with the TPCC chief’s statement that Warangal bypoll would be the referendum on the TRS’ functioning and asked: “Will you resign as PCC chief if the Congress candidate loses?”
Mr Rao also ridiculed the booklet brought out by the PCC leaders and said that it was Mr Chandrasekhar Rao who had promised the people of TS that he would not seek their votes in 2019 if he failed to implement the drinking water grid scheme in the next three years.
