Shahul Hameed dies ahead of swearing-in

He was taken to the polling booth in an ambulance to vote

KOLLAM: An independent member-elect of Kulasekharapuram panchayat, in Kollam, died at a private hospital in Kochi on the day of swearing-in.
 
Shahul Hameed, 56, of Mathasseril House, Adinadu South, Kulasekharapuram had been under treatment for heart ailment for a few days. He was the independent candidate from Kochalumoodu ward in Kulasekharapuram.
 
He developed cardiac pain after submitting his nomination on October 27 and was taken to a private hospital. He was taken to the polling booth in an ambulance to vote.
 
He was taken to a hospital in Kochi after his condition worsened where he died on  Thursday morning.
