The first look, teaser and song Shoot the Kuruvi from the Siddharth-starrer Jil Jung Juck got released earlier this week with a promo by none other than Bollywood star Salman Khan, which made it a rage on social media. Debutante filmmaker Deeraj Vaidy is all smiles and says directing Siddharth was totally a pleasure. “Jil Jung Juck is a quirky, dark comedy. At the same time, it doesn’t fall under adventure, comedy or action. The movie has a bunch of fresh faces and I hope we have pulled it off in a great way. As far as roping in Salman Khan for a byte in that song goes, it was Siddharth’s idea. He has interviewed Salman Khan previously. And when he showed the song to Salman, he played it for more than six to seven times without even knowing the meaning. He felt it was quite addictive,” Deeraj says. “I wrote the script a year ago and approached Siddharth. As a kid I have always admired him for what he was. He sees cinema in a different way. Sir was impressed by it and eventually, things fell in the place. This film would show him in totally a different light, unlike his previous films like Kaaviya Thalaivan. Background score would be a huge plus in the movie.
It’s not a hero-driven film at all. Radha Ravi sir plays an important role too,” he adds. Deeraj believes in his strength — script writing. “My friend Mohan and I have penned the script for this film. We decided to give a different treatment for the story. There’s a hairline difference between black comedy and dark humour,” Deeraj explains. Why didn’t the team rope in a leading lady for the film? “We can’t create a character just like for the sake of doing it. Generally, they say, script is the hero in a film — but here, the script is the heroine,” he concludes.
