ChennaiThe body of Deepika, who allegedly committed suicide last week after jumping off the 15th floor of a building in Singapore, arrived in Chennai on Saturday.

After seeing the body, the family is now claiming that her throat had been slit and it was a case of murder.  Deepika’s family took to the streets demanding immediate action against the accused.

The body arrived at the Chennai airport at noon. After undergoing all formalities, the body was brought to the family’s house.
When the family removed the cover off the body they allegedly saw that the throat had a clear cut mark and that her hands had also been bruised.

“The bruises don’t seem to indicate that she actually fell off the building. We demand an immediate post-mortem to determine the cause of the death,” said a neighbour.

Deepika’s family had already lodged a complaint against her husband and sent a petition to the Chief Minister’s cell demanding that the case be treated the same way as that of the chopping of a woman’s hand in Saudi Arabia by her employer. The family and neighbours protested on Beach Road in the evening after the arrival of the body.

A petition has also been sent to the High Commission and the Singaporean Embassy. The woman’s husband is being interrogated  by the Singaporean police. The local police has also filed a dowry harassment case against the husband, but further enquiry can be conducted after the police in Singapore reach out to the local police.
