Red sanders case: Gangi Reddy handed over to Andhra Pradesh
Reddy, who is accompanies by the CBI, is expected to reach Hyderabad by Sunday noon
Hyderabad: Notorious red sanders smuggler Kollam Gangi Reddy was handed over by the Mauritius police to Andhra Pradesh on Saturday night. AP CID chief D. Tirumal Rao told this newspaper that police had taken him into custody after completing all procedures.
Reddy, who is accompanies by the CBI, is expected to reach Hyderabad by Sunday noon.
Gangi Reddy was arrested by the Interpol in Mauritius while he was trying to board a flight to Sri Lanka in February this year. He remained in the custody of Mauritius police so far.
Apart from the red sanders smuggling cases, Gangi Reddy was one of the accused in the attack on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in 2003 at Alipiri.
After the 2014 general elections, Gangi Reddy fled to Dubai after the police launched a search for him, suspecting that he could pose a possible threat to Mr Naidu.
Gangi Reddy is a native of Vathuluru in Pullampeta mandal of Kadapa district.
