Machilipatnam: A YSR Congress MLA was arrested on Sunday for allegedly illegally occupying the house of a woman, which was being used as a party office.

"G Susheela of Gudivada Town had lodged a complaint in Gudivada One Town Police Station today stating that MLA Kodali Srivenkateshwara Rao refused to vacate her house which is being used as a YSR Congress Party office," Gudivada Deputy Superintendent of Police Anikeneedu Prasad said.

As per the complaint, the lease, signed between the MLA and Susheela, had expired a few years back, the officer said.

Rao represents the Gudivada seat in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. She further alleged that the MLA had threatened her of dire consequences if she did not withdrew the complaint, the police said.

"We arrested Rao and few of his supporters, who were later released on a personal bail," the police said, adding investigations were underway.
