Andhra Pradesh to earn Rs 32,000 crore sales tax in 2015-16

Tirupati: The state government is expecting Rs 32,000 crore sales tax to the state, according to minister for finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. Commercial tax department has arranged an awareness meeting to the merchants of Chittoor and Nellore districts on Sunday. Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, who attended the function as chief guest, said the sales tax to the state would give support to the state from coming out of deficit budget.

He said the goods and service tax (GST) bill will come into effect from the next April as the Bill already got consent of the Lok Sabha and the Bill is awaiting the consent of Rajya Sabha. He also said many reforms will take place in the commercial tax department to improve the revenue of the state.

At the behest of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, he said the opinion gathering meetings are being conducted at important cities in the state.

The minister said that a foolproof system would be launched in the state to arrest the evasion of tax by traders and also urged the traders to pay their commercial tax regularly as the state is in a financial mess.
