The movie is a biopic based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Phogat, the father of Indian women wrestlers Geeta and Babita Kumari Phogat. Mahavir coached Geeta to win many accolades, including the Bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The 'Dangal' crew has been shooting in Ludhiana for 40 days and the schedule was only three weeks away from their wrap. The film is being shot in villages Gujjarwal, Dango, Leel, Narangwal and Kila Raipur of Ludhiana.
Aamir has been famously piling on the pounds to portray wrestler Mahavir Phogat — the actor now weighs 98 kg. This dramatic weight gain along with intense workout schedule and wrestling practice sessions, took a toll on his health.
Aamir’s friend Salman Khan also expressed his concerns for the star at an event in the city. Salman will also be seen playing a wrestler in his next flick that is scheduled for a 2016 release.
The actor took to his social media account and posted, "Hey guys its not such a major injury. My back muscle has gone into a spasm. A week of rest and I will be back on shoot."
Aamir will reportedly be on painkillers and complete bed-rest for the next eight days.
The actor was in excruciating pain after he filmed the long action scene. He was then rushed to the hospital where it was diagnosed that he had suffered a serious shoulder injury.
Reports stated that the actor had been shooting a sequence that required multiple takes from different angles.
The actor, who is working on his sports themed film, hurt his shoulder while shooting repeated takes for a scene.
