N Shanker Reddy to head Vigilance
The government had even considered DGP Prisons Loknath Behera to the post
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government on Monday effected a reshuffle of the police top brass transferring and posting ADGP north zone N Shanker Reddy as ADGP Vigilance. He will be given the charge of Vigilance director. ADGP (State Crime Records Bureau) Nithin Agarwal has been posted as ADGP north zone.
Mr. Reddy succeeds Mr. Vinson M Paul, who went on long leave subsequent to the court's adverse remarks in the bar bribery case against former finance minister K M Mani.
Mr Reddy, who had served in the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) earlier also, is taking charge as its director at a time when further probe against Mr Mani is progressing and the bureau is under pressure to register case against Excise Minister K Babu.
In further shuffle in the police top brass, Ernakulam range IG M R Ajith Kumar has been posted as Thrissur range IG and Internal security IG Mahipal Yadav as Ernakulam-range IG. Kerala Police Academy director Sureshraj Purohit was holding the charge of Thrissur range IG.
Meanwhile, there are reports of resentment among a section in government and police top brass on posting an ADGP-rank officer to take charge of DGP-rank post. The government had even considered DGP Prisons Loknath Behera to the post.
