With water levels rising to about two to three feet in certain areas and gushing inside homes residents are facing a harrowing time dealing with the situation.
ChennaiLocated in the heart of the city, it seems Kilpauk has become a veritable island. With water levels rising to about two to three feet in certain areas and  gushing inside homes residents are facing a harrowing time dealing with the situation. Those who dared to venture out with their cars were in for a shock as water rushed inside engines leading to a complete breakdown of  vehicles.  “
 
It has been more than 12 hours since my vehicle got stuck in the knee-deep water on Kellys road. I called 100, but there was no response. Somebody needs to take responsibility. “, said 38 year-old Durairaj, the vehicle owner.    
 
“Last night it was completely dark. I had no idea that water levels were so high. Now I am hoping that a recovery vehicle comes and helps me out. It has been more than an hour we are waiting for it” he added.  With shops completely shut, Raji, a watchman laments that his source of drinking water is also shut. ]
 
“There is so much of water around, but not a drop to drink “  Further, cab services displayed not available sign most of the times while one particular driver from Uber flatly refused to go towards Kilpauk citing that safety of vehicle is more important than money.
