Rain toll touches six in Chittoor

Chittoor: Six person died due to floods and continuous rain in the district in the last five days, the in-charge district collector Bharat Gupta said here Monday.

“They were washed away in the floods in different incidents. Such was the intensity of the rainfall that 30 tmc capacity reservoirs have already reached the 26 tmc water level. Many village tanks were breached in Srikalahasti, KVB Puram, BN Kandriga and Nagalapuram due to the heavy inflow of water. Vehicular traffic in between Penumur and Chittor was stopped as the rivulets were overflowing,” Bharat Gupta said.
