Shivalingam stolen from temple at Dharmavaram

Role of treasure hunters is suspected

Anantapur: A four hundred year-old Shivalingam was stolen from the Lord Shiva temple at Dharmavaram in the district Sunday night.

The temple priest who went to offer poojas on Monday morning noticed the lock was broken and the Shivalingam dug out and taken away.

The culprits however did  not touch the gold, silver and hundi collections at the temple and  took away only the Shivalingam. Role of treasure hunters is suspected. Police launched a manhunt.
