With filmmaker Mani Ratnam having rights of his recent outing O Kadhal Kanmaniaka OK Kanmani, now the Hindi remake has been finalised. Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor will be reprising the roles Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen did. The Hindi version will be helmed by Kill Dil director Shaad Ali, a former associate of Mani Ratnam, who remade the Madhavan-Shalini-starrer Alaipayuthey as Saathiya in Hindi. Previously, it was said that Alia Bhat and Varun Dhawan were supposed to do the project but because of their busy schedules, Sonakshi and Aditya replaced them. Eventually, Sonakshi also couldn't make it.

We hear that core technical crew that worked in the Tamil version is likely to be retained, with AR Rahman for music and PC Sreeram as the cinematographer. The screenplay of the film is reportedly being co-written by Mani Ratnam and Shaad Ali, and the film will go on floors in early 2016. Meanwhile, Mani’s multi-starrer bilingual with Karthi, Saiyami Kher and Nani was shelved recently, even before he launched it officially.
