Mumbai: Directed by Balu Mahendra, 1983 blockbuster ‘Sadma’ is all set to see its remake next year. Ad guru Llyod Baptista will mark his directorial debut with this remake. Recently Llyod visited Raj Sippy and got the rights of the film from the ace producer. ‘Sadma’ remake will have the original plot slightly tweaked which appeals to the Gen-X.
‘Sadma’ remake will go on floors next year. The film will have prominent roles for the male protagonist and rest of the star cast. Deepak Dobriyal has been approached to play Paintal's character. Casting for the leads is still to be finalised. Lloyd is currently co-writing the film with his wife Anushka Godwani. Close friend and filmmaker Atul Agnihotri who is producing the film is a guiding light for Llyod and his wife. The team has also bought the rights of two popular songs from the original ‘Sadma’, ‘Aye Zindagi Gale Lagaa Le’ and ‘Surmayee Ankhiyon Mein.’ Lloyd has left for Dehradun for a reccee.
Lloyd wishes to make a biopic on Rajinikanth with the star's daughter Soundarya and biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Paresh Rawal in the lead but he wants to make ‘Sadma’ foremost. What will be the fate of ‘Sadma’ remake, time will tell us?
