Hyderabad: The Centre has decided to establish a dry port in Telangana State to make it a major transit and logistics hub for South and Central states of the country.

Ernst & Young has been hired as consultants and asked to submit a feasibility report to the Centre by December 15. In another development, the TS government has proposed new airports at Adilabad, Warangal, Nizamabad and Kothagudem. The Centre has asked state government to allow proposed airport at Adilabad for defence purposes.

The state is considering Centre’s plea, said R&B minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. Union Civil Aviation Ministry has in principle agreed to develop the existing airports at Nizamabad and Warangal for commercial and passenger services. RITES gave a green signal for setting up airport at Kothagudem.

Mr Rao discussed dry port, airports, new railway lines, road network and conversion of the State Highway into National Highways and other issues with the department heads on Tuesday.
