Kottayam: The Nair Service Society  has sharply criticised the  SNDP-BJP tie-up in the local body elections and said it was a failure.  Had the BJP  gone it alone, it could have secured more seats, it said.

The opinion was voiced by the NSS mouthpiece ‘Service’ in an editorial titled ‘Three-tier body elections confirms the equidistance  stand of NSS.’

The editorial justified the NSS stand saying that it was unwilling to join the BJP bandwagon when a Hindu community organisation attempted to join it  for a ‘larger Hindu unity’ aiming at political dividends.  However, the BJP  tried to reap political dividends by controlling that organization, it said.

The editorial alleged that the methods adopted by the BJP  leaders for a tie-up with the NSS  were  intended to insult the NSS. “The  BJP  tried to prove that the NSS  leaders were  divided and it used some of the leaders to control the  NSS,”  the editorial said.
