Bajirao’s descendant hits out at Bhansali

Ever since Pinga from Bajirao Mastani was released, there have been varied reactions. While some have praised the dance sequence by Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, others have gone all out and criticised it. Recently, Mohini Karkarey, a descendant of the Peshwas, wrote an open letter to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali where she has slammed the film.

Karkarey claimed that Kashibai could not have danced because she was suffering from arthritis and that Mastani was not a courtesan, but the daughter of Raja Chatrasaal of Bundelkhand.

She also states that Kashibai and Mastani had only met once in their life. Karkarey further added, “With this so called love story you have made a mockery of him. You have insulted the very essence of Maharashtrian families.”
