It’s official and straight from the horse’s mouth! Leaving behind his other plans, filmmaker Mani Ratnam is all set to remake his Tamil blockbuster O Kadhal Kanmani (OKK) in Hindi. Though Mani has made straight Bollywood flicks like Dil Se and Guru, in the past, this time around, he has chosen his protégé and B’town filmmaker Shaad Ali to direct the Hindi version of OKK.  The film, dubbed as OK Bangaram in Telugu, was a huge hit. A source from Mani’s office confirmed the news with DC and said, “Shaad is one of Mani sir’s favourite asssitants. He wanted him to helm the affairs, although sir will be co-writing the screenplay as well.”

When quizzed on whether the Aashiqui 2 pair Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor would be reprising Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, the source said, “Yes, they are almost confirmed, but yet to sign the dotted line.” Though Prakash Raj who played a crucial role in the original is a known face in Hindi, insiders say Mani may not repeat him for the remake. The movie, which will go on floors from early 2016, will have music by AR Rahman, who composed the original score.
