Family dispute led Chintu to murder Chittoor Mayor
They targeted Anuradha as she was in power
Hyderabad: “The mayor and her husband had made the life of their nephew Chintu miserable…this led him to conspire and eliminate them.” This was what the surrendered killers of Chittoor mayor K. Anuradha and her husband K. Mohan told the interrogators.
The three, Venkata Chalapati, Jayaprakash and Manju, who had surrendered to the cops on Tuesday, claimed that Chintu had objected to the compromise between the couple and Mr C.K. Babu alias Jayachandra Reddy regarding a criminal case.
A top police official of Chittoor said, “It has been confirmed that the couple was killed by their nephew Chintu.
The motive that is emerging now is that there were several differences – over a vegetable market, quarry and compromise with C.K. Babu.
Apart from this, what triggered the act is that the mayor had ordered the demolition of a compound wall constructed by Chintu on his plot.
They targeted Anuradha too as she was in power and if left alive she might have made their lives more miserable. But at this point it is not so easy to come to a conclusion unless Chintu the prime accused is questioned.”
Sources: Mayor’s nephew Chintu in police custody
Chintu alias Chandrasekhar, the main accused in the murder of Chittoor Mayor K. Anuradha and her husband K. Mohan, is in police custody, said reliable sources in the police department.
While SP Srinivas and ASP Ratna haven’t confirmed the arrest of Chintu and the other accused, Jayaprakash, sources said that Chintu had been apprehended on Tuesday itself.
Chintu, who was the deceased Anuradha’s nephew, was fighting with of her husband Mohan for a long time over a land and police suspect that this could be the main reason for the attack on the couple.
On Tuesday after the double murder, police sniffer dogs had led officials from the municipal office to Chintu’s office, from where he escaped. A manhunt followed and he was reportedly apprehended. Sources also said that the three attackers who had surrendered earlier, had revealed Chintu’s role in the crime.
