Hyderabad: The Metro Water Board booked cases against three residents of Sultanshahi for obstructing the top officials from issuing red notices over pending water bills. The board also lodged a complaint with the Moghulpura police.

Board director, revenue, P. S. Suryanarayana said, “The residents had not cleared their bills for months and red notices were being issued to them. The defaulters created high drama and tried to stop officials from issuing notices by which their connection would be disconnected. The trio owes a huge amount.”

Consumers who fail to pay their bills despite being alerted through messages would be served notices under the Revenue Recovery Act, he said. The board’s general manager and deputy general manager and general manager of the Charminar division were on the rounds to issue notices to defaulters as part of a drive to collect arrears.
