Patna: The political corridors of Patna are abuzz with speculation that Lalu Prasad’s younger son Tejaswi may soon don the coveted mantle of Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister.

RJD’s performance in the Bihar assembly elections had stunned the country, as Lalu’s party emerged as the single largest party, beating even Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U). Lalu’s sons Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and Tej Pratap secured big wins in Raghopur and Mahua constituencies, making them deserving candidates for the big post.

Tejaswi had defeated BJP's Satish Kumar by a big margin of 22,733 votes in Raghopur, a seat won by both Lalu and his wife Rabri Devi in the past.

With both of Lalu’s sons making a victorious political debut, speculations of the two getting ministerial berths started making the rounds in political circles as soon as RJD’s massive win was announced.

Sources indicated that Lalu may have asked for the position of deputy chief minister for his younger son Tejaswi, since he himself cannot get any important role in the Bihar cabinet.

“It is too early for us discuss these things. People gave us a massive mandate to work for the state and all of us are committed towards our duty,” Tejaswi had told Deccan Chronicle after the results.
