Patna: It’s official now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend Nitish Kumar’s oath ceremony on November 20. The refusal came on Wednesday after Mr Kumar personally called the PM and requested him to attend the oath-taking ceremony.

In a bid to clear the air on the issue further, BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh said, “PM may not be able to attend the event as he has other scheduled programs”, adding, senior BJP leader and Parliamentary affairs minister Venkiah Naidu and Rajiv Pratap Rudy “will attend oath ceremony”.

Terming the invitation to the PM a “formality”, state JD(U) president Basisth Narayan Singh said, “Prime Minister has been invited but now it’s  up to him whether he attends or not.”
