Centre to hike payday under MNREGS to 150

Hyderabad: The Centre is toying with the idea of hiking the guaranteed wage employment to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme from 100 days to 150 days.
Union minister Chaudhary Birender Singh disclosed this during a visit to Shadnagar in Mahbubnagar district on Thursday.
“We will increase 100 employment days under the MGNREGS to 150 soon. There is good demand for the scheme,” he said.
He also said the Centre had not got any report from the TS government on drought-hit mandals in the state.
Referring to the water crisis in some places; he said the Centre planned to ensure drinking water to the remotest areas by supplying through trains and other means.
