CM Siddaramaiah keeps disabled children waiting
For the second time in a span of two days, Siddaramaiah has kept students waiting for hours
Bengaluru: For the second time in a span of two days, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has kept students waiting for hours. This time he kept children with special needs, their parents and teachers waiting and did not even turn up.
The Department of Women and Child Welfare had on Thursday organised ‘Spandana’, a state-level meet of special teachers and parents of special children at the Shikshakara Sadana of the city. More than thousand special children from across the state had arrived, along with their parents, for the event. They were excited about interacting with the Chief Minister.
As per the event invite the children and others gathered at 9 am. The Chief Minister was supposed to inaugurate the event at 10 am, but he did not turn up till 11 am. Health Minister U.T. Khader and Minister for Women and Child Welfare Umashree, who were already present, inaugurated the event.
Umashree informed that the Department would introduce new rules for the NGOs working in the field of empowerment of special children. As per the new rules these organisations must take care of the people with special needs till the age of 30 years.
It may be recalled that on November 17, Chief Minister S. Siddaramaiah was supposed to attend a Children's Parliament, organised by the Karnataka Legislators’ Forum for Child Rights and Unicef, at Vidhana Soudha. The event was supposed to begin at 9 am, but it actually began at 12.30 pm.
