Groups fiat in December, 400 posts cleared
Despite hundreds of vacancies in these categories the government is not giving approvals to fill them
Hyderabad: Nearly 20 lakh candidates are expected to apply for Group-I and Group-II posts in Telangana but the government has so far cleared only 400 posts in these categories so far.
The Telangana State Public Service Commission has been urging the government to increase the posts to enable it to issue notifications since some months but there is no response.
Despite hundreds of vacancies in these categories the government is not giving approvals to fill them.
TSPSC sources said the commission is preparing to issue notifications in early December after waiting for the government decision on increasing vacancies till November-end.
Though the TSPSC had been conducting recruitment exams since two months they are mostly for technical posts for which only engineering graduates are eligible. But demand is huge for Group-I and Group-II posts for which graduates from all streams are eligible. Besides these exams were conducted last five years ago. As per estimates around 10-15 lakh candidates are taking coaching for Group-II exams and 5-8 lakh for Group-I exams.
TS officials expect around 15 lakh applicants for Group-II and 5-8 lakh for Group-I exams as the government is increasing the upper age limit for these exams from 34 years to 44 years for general candidates and an additional five years for reserved categories.
The TSPSC is under tremendous pressure to issue Groups notifications from students and unemployed youth who are demonstrating frequently in front of the TSPSC office in Nampally demanding them.
