PIL against auctioning of Telangana lands
Petition seeks to prevent land sale by TS for resource mobilisation
Hyderabad: A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday said that it would hear a PIL on Tuesday challenging the action of the Telangana State government in resorting to the sale and permanent alienation of government lands for resource mobilisation.
The Forum for Better Hyderabad represented by its secretary O.M. Debara moved the PIL informing the court that the Telangana state government had issued a GO on October 9, 2015, designating the TS Industrial Infrastructure Corporation as the auctioning agency for auction of government land parcels. The petitioner also challenged the notification of the TSIIC for the sale of land parcels.
The petitioner told the court that the government had appointed a private agency, MSTC, as service provider for the sale of land parcels through e-auction and had permitted the TSIIC to auction 30 identified land parcels in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts as a first step.
He said the government which had issued three GOs in this regard had categorically stated that land parcels which are not required for any public purpose and cannot be kept idle for fear of encroachments shall be disposed of by open public auction.
He said that the undivided state government had issued a GO in 2012 prohibiting the sale of government land for resource mobilisation and lands which can be used for public purpose. The bench said it would hear the matter on Tuesday.
HC rejects bail to blast accused
Justice Raja Elango of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday refused bail to Farooq Sharfuddin Tarkash alias Abdullah, one of the accused in the twin bomb blasts of August 25, 2007, at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat in Koti.
Mr D. Rami Reddy, Telangana additional public prosecutor, opposed the bail petition contending that there were several cases pending against the accused and he had not got bail in any of the cases.
The accused had conspired to wage war against the nation by conniving with other accused in the case. Mr Rami Reddy said Sharfuddin was an activist of the terror outfit Indian Mujahideen and was responsible for the bomb blasts along with other accused to create terror by killing innocent people and urged the court not to show any mercy.
He told the court that the trial was yet to commence and if he got bail there was a possibility of his planning fresh terror attacks along with the Indian Mujahideen. While considering the arguments of the prosecution, the judge dismissed the bail plea.
