Hyderabad: On Thursday, K. Venkata Krishna Chaitanya, 19, who committed suicide, was helping his parents at their office in Punjagutta. His parents Narasimha Babu and Ramchandravathi are stamp vendors. After completing the work, he returned home on his bike as his parents came home in a car. His parents reached around 15 minutes after Chaitanya. When they entered, they found him hanging from the ceiling.

Chaitanya left an eight-page suicide note in his diary in which he stated that he was being ragged by his senior, a Final Year BTech student named Shekar who is a native of Vijayawada, and his other friends. “He treats me worse than dogs. He does not let me study or do anything and at times he beats me too. It is increasing daily and I cannot tolerate this anymore,” read the note. He wrote that Shekar had also forced Chaitanya to pay his phone bills and other expenses. He would even snatch away his pocket money.

“Whenever I rent a car on a holiday, I am forced to give it to him and bear the fuel expenses too,” he wrote. Chaitanya also urged his father to fight legally till Shekar was punished. “Please do not leave him and fight till he is punished. No one else should suffer like me,” he wrote. Based on a complaint by Mr Babu, a case under Section 306 of IPC (Abetment to Suicide) and Section 4(1) of the Anti-Ragging Act had been filed.
“The case will be transferred to Chennai for further investigation,” said KPHB inspector Sreekanth Goud.
