Soudha to get hi-tech security gadgets soon

Dr G. Parameshwar said that the state government is taking up modernisation of security

Bengaluru: Admitting that  some security gadgets at Vidhana Soudha and Vikas Soudha are not functioning properly, home minister Dr G. Parameshwar said that the state government is taking up modernisation of security in and around Vidhana Soudha at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
 
Replying to Captain Ganesh Karnik of BJP during zero hour, he said four scanners, nine door frame metal detectors and 26 hand-held metal detectors had been installed of which two were not functioning. 
Similarly, three scanners, six door frame metal detectors and eleven hand-held metal detectors had been set up in Vikas Soudha of which three were not working, he said.
 
“This has come to my notice and the issue is being addressed,” he said Dr Parameshwar also said a meeting involving the additional chief secretary was held recently to review security in both the Soudhas. It had been decided to take up the modernisation of security in both Vidhana and Vikas Soudha at a cost of Rs 5 crore. There are reports about suspicious people moving in and around Vidhana Soudha. 
“I will review this personally and take necessary action,” he added.
