SP Velumani discusses relief works by city corporation
He also said about 23,500 corporation staff are continuing the monsoon relief works in all 15 zones of corporation

Chennai: Local administration minister S.P. Velumani on Friday discussed the monsoon relief works executed by the city corporation in rain-hit areas. Later in the day Velumani who also reviewed the monsoon works in Kancheepuram district told reporters that the power cuts and water-logging have been by and large addressed in Chennai and Kancheepuram districts.
In case of Chennai, about 22 lakh people have been served food and normalcy is restored. So far 798 uprooted trees have been cleared and in all low-lying areas chlorine tablets were distributed to prevent water borne diseases.
He also said about 23,500 corporation staff are continuing the monsoon relief works in all 15 zones of corporation. Senior ministers Valarmathi and Gokula Indira, Chennai mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy were also present. To create awareness among public the corporation had started distributing two lakh pamphlets on mosquito prevention and water logging.
