BENGALURU: To make skywalks more pedestrian friendly and to help senior citizens and children cross the road, a skywalk with escalator is being constructed near Forum Mall on Hosur Road in Koramangala.

This will be the second skywalk with escalators. The first one has been installed on Rajkumar Road.

Mayor B.N. Manjunath Reddy told Deccan Chronicle that the skywalk near Forum Mall is being constructed on public private partnership. The cost of the skywalk will be borne by the promoter, who will earn his revenues through advertisement rights. The BBMP will not spend any money and will get ground rent, he said.

Although skywalks have been built at several places in the city, they are not being used by pedestrians. Escalators will encourage the public to use skywalks, BBMP officials said.
