Kochi to become hub of niche tourism circuit

KOCHI: The Kerala Home Stay Association, Ernakulam District Tourism Promotion Council and Athirappally Tourism Development Committee have joined together to launch a one-day package for tourists from Kochi to the famed Athirapally-Vazhachal waterfall.
The package is part of efforts in carving out a niche tourism circuit linking the beach destination in Kochi and its neighbouring areas with tourism potential, the promoters of the venture said.
According to them tourists will be picked up from Fort Kochi in the morning will be dropped back in the same day late evening.
A 33-seater luxury vehicle will be used for the purpose, said Sivaduttan director of the Home Stay Association.
The package will cover a slew of interesting locales such as the Kodanad elephant training camp, Kalady, birth place of Sanakaracharya, Thumboomuzhi River garden, Hanging Bridge, Butterfly Park and waterfalls in Athirappally, Charppa and Vazhachal waterfalls.
The package costing Rs 1,300 per person will cover the entry fees in all these locations as well as food based on traditional Kerala cuisine.
“We hope the one-day trip will help tourists to come in close touch with nature”, said promoters of the package. The compact package is targeting the discerning travelers, he added.
