KTM reveals GT version of the powerful 1290 Super Duke R
The GT version has the same LC8 engine as the 1290 Super Duke R
Mumbai: Back in 2014, KTM unveiled the stunning 1290 Super Duke R, which can be crowned as one of the best street fighters ever. The beastly bike sported an aggressive look combined with the prowess of a 1300CC engine. The KTM Super Duke R was a major success apart from one disadvantage—touring.
In 2016, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturing company has announced the launch of a sports-tourer variant of the Twin-cylinder Super Duke R. The 1290 Super Duke GT comes with additional electronic safety features and utilities required for touring.
The GT version has exactly the same LC8 engine as the previous 1290 Super Duke R and is equally fast, as both the engines are tuned similarly. Although KTM has made some changes to the Power-torque ratio, gear transmission remains almost the same, which is commendable.
Most of the parts are visible parts such as the frame, brakes, and exhaust cylinder remains unchanged. However, the suspension of the new GT uses an electronic control unit to measure bumps in real-time. In addition, the GT has received a horde of electronic functionality such as stability control, adjustable ABS, Hill road control, Motor Slip regulation, and traction control.
On the design front, the GT has been modified to greatly enhance touring experience. The 23-litre fuel tank is also bigger than the 1290 Super Duke R. Moreover, the tail end of the bike incorporates KTM’s hard luggage storage.
The bike will be available in two colours—orange and grey. Although the company has not quoted an official price, we are sure that this beauty will certainly burn a hole in your pocket.
However, if you are someone who likes adventure biking, the sheer enjoyment of touring with this bike overshadows the price factor.
