Tamizhan Endru Sol is a revolutionary movie: Vijayakanth
The new movie TES where his son Shanmugapandian will share the screen alongside the father
Actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth returns to donning the greasepaint for a Tamil movie — which is intriguingly titled Tamizhan Endru Sol (TES). Fondly addressed as ‘Captain’, the actor was last seen in a cameo role in his son Shanmugapandian’s debut vehicle Sagaaptham, released six months back, which received only a lukewarm response from the critics as well as in box office.
The new movie TES where his son Shanmugapandian will share the screen alongside the father, was launched with much fanfare at a studio in the city recently. It looked as though it was his party meeting, as huge numbers of his political compatriots were spotted on the occasion. Flanked by his wife Premalatha, brother-in-law Sudheesh and son Pandian, the actor was given a traditional welcome at the venue.
When asked what made him accept a full-fledged role, Vijayakanth was all smiles. “After floating my own political party, I never wanted to act. My wife and elder son Vijaya Prabhakaran were hearing a lot of scripts for my younger son’s next venture. Arun Ponnambalam had a script and approached me when he felt it would suit me. He said that I would be appropriate to play the lead protagonist. When I listened to the script, I was impressed and came on board for its content which emphasises the importance of Tamil language. It also has a revolutionary subject.” The first look poster of the film suggests it is a period fantasy genre film with Vijayakanth sporting the look of a king of the past era.
