Hyderabad: An Armed Reserve Constable’s husband, who allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at his home on Tuesday, died on Sunday while under treatment

The husband, Nageshwar Rao, committed suicide due to his wife’s alleged relationship with her colleague. Before attempting suicide he recorded his statement in a selfie video on his mobile.

Devarakonda Nageshwar Rao, 24, belonged to Tenali and was working as a karate instructor. Nearly six years ago he fell in love with Varalaxmi, who is now working as an AR constable at the CAR headquarters at Amberpet in Hyderabad. They got married seven months ago. After marriage, the couple started staying in a flat in Bansilalpet in Secunderabad.

Varalaxmi was employed at Secunderabad, but Nageshwar had to travel to Tenali, Guntur and Vijayawada three days a week to teach karate.

Meanwhile, Varalaxmi allegedly developed a relationship with her colleague. Nageshwar warned her many times to stay away from the man but it fell on deaf ears. Nageshwar, in his statement, said that she used to chat with her colleague for long on her phone. Whenever he asked her to stop she used to say that she does not want him.

He approached her seniors. “In front of her superiors too, she said that she wanted to divorce me and to live with her colleague Santosh. Her superiors tried to persuade her in vain. My wife, her parents and her elder sister are responsible for my death,” said Nageshwar in the selfie video that he recorded on his mobile, before attempting suicide.

Nageshwar had recorded all phone conversations that he had with his wife in which she allegedly said that she is no more interested to live with him and that she wanted a divorce.

A case under Section 174 has been registered. “We recorded his statement. Based on investigation we will proceed,” said inspector A. Sanjeeva Rao. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.
