Committee led by VS Ugrappa to look into Dalit maid’s rape
Police have registered a case of sexual abuse, cheating
Mysuru: The Expert committee on prevention of sexual violence against women and children led by Congress MLC Mr V.S. Ugrappa and former Minister Ms Rani Sathish visited Nadadi village of HD Kote taluk and inquired into the case of alleged abuse of a 22-year-old woman Suma (name changed) reported in Sargur Police station, here on Sunday.
According to a complaint filed by Suma in Sargur Police station, she worked as maid at the house of one Mahadev in Nadadi village in HD Kote taluk. She was reportedly sexually abused by Mahadev for the past few years and became pregnant twice and the pregnancy was reportedly terminated. Mahadev who had reportedly promised to marry her, is all set to get married to another girl. Following this, she lodged complaint with Sargur Police on November 18, police said.
Police have registered a case of sexual abuse, cheating and a case under The Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and others against Mahadev and are investigating. Mr Ugrappa said that they have directed ASP Kala Krishnaswamy to conduct an inquiry into the case.
Representatives from Sichuan visit Mysuru palace
Five representatives of Sichuan Province of China, visited Mysuru Palace on Saturday and said they were impressed by the beauty of the Palace. In the Visitors book of Mysuru Palace, they have stated that "the Palace is beautiful and well maintained," Palace Board Deputy Director, Mr T.S. Subramanya told Deccan Chronicle. Sichuan Province has been termed the ‘Sister State of Karnataka.’ An agreement in this regard has been signed by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi during his visit to China on May 15 this year. The representatives also visited Chamundi hills, Srirangpatna and other places.
