Asia’s largest science fest kicks off today
Education minister P.K. Abdu Rabb will inaugurate the fest
KOLLAM: Young prodigies aspiring to become tomorrow’s scientists will showcase their skills at the 49th state school science festival beginning here on Tuesday.
Thousands of students from all over the state will take part in the festival considered as the biggest in Asia when in participation. Colourful processions will mark the beginning of the five-day festival at five venues in the city.
Kollam Boys HSS is the main venue where director of public instructions M.S. Jaya will hoist the festival flag marking its commencement at 9.30 am. Education minister P.K. Abdu Rabb will inaugurate the fest.
Competitions will be held in 264 items under categories including science fest, science drama, mathematics fest, social science fest, work experience fest, IT fest, vocational expo and career fest.
Other venues include St. Aloysius HSS, SN Central School and Krist Raj school, St Joseph convent. Students from UP level to Higher Secondary and Vocational Secondary will take part in the fest.
Winners will get grace marks, cash awards and trophies. A career seminar will be held at the main venue on November 26 at 10 am followed by the vocational expo where various products made by the students will be available for sale.
