Security beefed up in Hyderabad, cops conduct surprise visit to malls
Malls did not have proper security checks
Hyderabad: Ten days after the Paris attack, security has been beefed up in the city with several police teams conducting surprise checks at pubs, malls and recreation centres following an alert from intelligence agencies. Vehicles checks and security checks were being carried out in various malls from Monday afternoon by the city police.
However, senior police officials said that there was no specific terror alert from the agencies. “There was an alert following the Paris attack. So we are just continuing with the security checks. We have not received any specific alert on Monday,” said Hyderabad Commissioner of Police M. Mahender Reddy.
Meanwhile during checking the police found that the malls did not have proper security checks. “We are sending notices to Hyderabad Central Mall and City Center Mall for not having adequate security measures,” said West Zone DCP A. Venkateswara Rao.
