KASARGOD: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapalli Natesan kicked off his ‘Samatwa Munnetta Yatra’ from Kasargod on Monday with the aim of forming  a political party by uniting all  majority communities in the state.

He lighted a lamp at Madhur Sidhivinayaka temple to mark the beginning of his march in the presence of   BJP state president V. Muraleedharan, who had come there to bless the  BJP’s new-found partner.

Mr Muraleedharan also announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi  would  unveil R. Sankar’s statue in Kollam.

Mr Vellapally launched a tirade against  CPM veteran  V. S. Achuthanandan, terming him as a monkey that had burnt his legs. He said VS who was like a dead body in the  CPM had got a new lease of life because of SNDP’s march.

“The  SNDP knows only to spread the message of love and not to inflict 51 cuts  on its  political opponents,” he said  referring to the murder of T. P. Chandrasekharan.

The Yatra  will end at Shanghumughom, Thiruvananthapuram, on December 5 when Mr Natesan is expected to announce the  formation of a new political party.

A public meeting was also held at Kasargod as part of the march and pontiffs of various mutts lit the lamp to inaugurate it.
