IND vs SA, third Test: Gagan Khoda to debut as selector
The 41-year-old will have national selector Sandeep Patil for company in Nagpur
Mumbai: Former India cricketer Gagan Khoda will make his "debut" as a selector in Nagpur.
According to the highly placed sources close to the BCCI, the 41-year-old Gagan Khoda has been asked to report at Nagpur and he was scheduled to reach there on Tuesday, a day ahead of the 3rd Test beginning in the Orange City on November 25.
The newly appointed selector from the Central Zone will be accompanied by Sandeep Patil, the chairman of the National Selection Panel.
The allotment of the matches (to the selectors) are being decided by the chief selector, who also directed MSK Prasad, another new selector, to witness the second Test match in Bangalore earlier this month.
The selectors not on duty at the Test centers are being directed to witness the domestic matches. Accordingly, the other selectors would be watching the Ranji games.
The non-playing members of Team India may also be asked to return to their domestic circuits as it was done in the earlier two Tests (Kanpur and Bangalore) and the local boys may be asked to join Virat Kohli and company.
This newly adopted system, which is also in existence in Australia, enables local boys to interact with the senior members of the team and the non-playing team members a chance to play the local matches.
