KOZHIKODE: The leaky and dusty dens of city corporation office will soon get a facelift with state-of-the art cubicles, monitoring systems and facilities for the public.
Mayor V.K.C. Mammadkoya has already started discussions with prominent interior designers of the city on redesigning the corporation office and making it more public-friendly and employee-friendly.
Mr Mammadkoya told DC that the restructuring of the corporation office was on his priority list. “We need a modern office with more ventilation and light,” he said and added that modern open cubicles would help internal communication, employees’ fraternity and transparency.
“I have already discussed with the employees the changes to be worked out while designing the new office and also some measures to be taken for improving the service of staff. I am inspired by their positive attitude and hope to improve the quality of service. We have also planned to bring in punching system with the cooperation of the unions,” he said.
Mr Mammadkoya has already announced setting up a consultative committee with experts of National Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, as members for modernizing the city.
With the support of IIMK experts, he is also planning to conduct an awareness session for the councillors on city governance in December.
