Mumbai: Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, never lacked spotlight. While his father made international debut at 16, the 15-year-old is still struggling for a foothold in domestic cricket. But the junior Tendulkar displayed his hunger to match up to his father when he slammed a ton in a low scoring Under-16 Payyade Trophy match here on Tuesday.

At the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana of Mumbai Cricket Association, the youngster slammed 106 off 156 with 16 fours and two sixes.

He represented the Sunil Gavaskar XI and helped his team reach 218 against Rohit Sharma XI.

According to reports, Vikas Satam (coach, Sunil Gavaskar XI) said that Arjun played his natural game and took the pressure off the team. He termed the innings chanceless.

The Payyade Trophy is a selection trial for U-16 cricketers in Mumbai.

Earlier this year, Arjun bowled at the nets during the Ashes in England.
