Sonam Kapoor's ’Neerja’ biopic gets February release date!

The actress plays the part of 23-year-old PanAm airhostess, who died saving 379 hijacked passengers

Mumbai: The date has been set for Sonam Kapoor’s ’Neerja’ biopic! After a successful run at the box office with ‘Prem Ratan Dhan payo’, the star is all set to release her film next year. The biopic, that will see the star play Neerja Bhanot, a 23-year-old airhostess, who gave up her life trying to save the lives of 379 hijacked passengers on PanAm flight in Karachi in 1986, is set to release on February 19, 2016. 
 
Neerja became the youngest recipient of India's highest civilian award for bravery – The  Ashok Chakra award. Pakistan also bestowed the prestigious Tamgha-e-Insaaniyat Award to Neerja for showing incredible human kindness during the hijack.
 
In a statement released today, Vijay Singh, of Fox Star Studios said, "Fox Star Studios and Bling Unplugged is proud to announce that we will be releasing Neerja on Feb 19 for the people the world over to know and celebrate the story of a 23-year-old girl who found courage and self-sacrifice in an extraordinary moment in her life. Neerja is one of the unsung heroes of India whose story should be an inspiration for everyone. This is her story."

Ad film director Ram Madhvani has directed the film. Sonam Kapoor will be seen playing the leading role of Neerja and actress Shabana Azmi will be seen taking on the role of Neerja’s mother.
